Residential Training

At Dog ABC, we understand that every dog — and every owner — is unique. Our Residential Training Programme provides your dog with a home-from-home experience while receiving tailored, professional training in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

Set within four acres of beautiful Cheshire countryside, our residential training combines expert tuition, daily care, and positive social experiences to help your dog develop confidence, calmness, and reliability in the real world.

A Home-from-Home Experience

When your dog stays with us, they become part of our family. Accommodation is provided within our home, ensuring they receive the comfort, companionship, and round-the-clock attention they deserve.

We pride ourselves on treating every dog as if they were our own — providing warmth, care, and routine throughout their stay. Regular grooming and visual health checks are carried out to ensure your dog’s wellbeing, and we work in partnership with local veterinary practices so any health concerns can be promptly addressed.

Focused, Professional Training

Our residential training provides a unique opportunity for your dog to receive focused, professional training in a calm and enriching environment. Set on our four-acre grounds, we offer a variety of secure training areas, natural spaces, and exposure to livestock — ideal for developing reliable behaviour and confidence in real-world settings.

Before your dog’s stay, we’ll arrange an initial consultation to ensure residential training is the right choice for your dog. During this session, we discuss your goals, assess your dog’s temperament and needs, and create a tailored training plan that forms the foundation of their stay.

Throughout the programme, your dog becomes part of our family. They receive consistent, kind, and structured guidance, with training designed specifically for their personality, ability, and your long-term objectives.

You’ll receive regular updates, including progress reports, photos, and training videos — valuable resources to refer back to when continuing your dog’s new routine at home.

When it’s time for collection, we’ll show you what your dog has achieved and provide a clear handover session, including hands-on guidance on how to implement and maintain their new skills in your home environment.

Our support doesn’t end there — we offer ongoing aftercare, ensuring you have access to advice and guidance as your dog settles back in and continues to thrive.

Tailored Training for Every Need

Every dog is different, so each residential training programme is fully tailored to meet your dog’s specific needs. We work with a wide range of concerns, including:

  • General obedience – sit, down, stay, recall, heelwork, and calm behaviour on walks

  • Behaviour modification – addressing issues such as separation anxiety, aggression, over-excitability, or fear

  • Livestock training – exposure to sheep, hens, and other animals to develop reliable working behaviour

  • Gun dog training – specific skills for hunting and retrieving, adapted to your dog’s breed and ability

Training sessions take place in a variety of real-life environments — not just in a field — to help your dog learn to listen, focus, and behave reliably in everyday situations. This includes exposure to men, women, and children, as well as varied social settings, to promote balance, confidence, and adaptability.

All training is based on positive reinforcement, encouraging consistent, confident responses and fostering a strong bond between dog and owner.

Care, Communication & Support

During your dog’s stay, we provide regular updates and progress reports, so you’re always informed about how your dog is getting on. We understand that leaving your dog can be a big step, so we make sure you feel connected throughout their time with us.

Once training is complete, we don’t just hand over the lead — we provide unrivalled aftercare packages, offering guidance and advice to maintain progress and confidence at home.

Putting Your Dog’s Welfare First

Your dog’s welfare and wellbeing always come first. We believe that effective training comes from understanding, trust, and compassion — not force or fear. That’s why we only use evidence-based, positive training methods, ensuring every dog leaves us feeling secure, confident, and content.

“We couldn’t be happier with our dog’s residential training experience! Jez & Sam made her feel like part of their family and kept us updated with photos and videos throughout her stay. She came home calm, confident, and so well-behaved — and the handover session gave us everything we needed to keep up the progress at home. Highly recommend!”
